What is Dermablend?
With the holidays soon upon us, now is the time to get out your favorite little black dresses for all the festivities. While this season exudes magic and fun for many, for those with spider veins, the excitement of the season can be dampened by embarrassment and dread. Those visible veins can affect how we look or feel about ourselves, prompting us to hide behind bulky sweaters and leggings rather than our best party wear.
Spider veins, also known as telangiectasia, appear as red, blue or purple lines that form a network on the surface of the skin. They are formed by the dilation of small blood vessels located near the skin’s surface. Pregnancy, aging, smoking, inactivity and obesity can increase your risk of developing spider veins. While they are often painless and do not usually cause serious health issues, they can be a cosmetic concern.
Making pants a permanent part of your wardrobe is an easy but unappealing solution. Treatments such as sclerotherapy are useful but often require multiple sessions and a more substantial financial investment. For an affordable, effective and immediate cover-up that’s perfect for special occasions, the Vein Care Center recommends Dermablend’s full coverage body makeup.
About the Brand
Dermablend was created in 1981 by American dermatologist Dr. Craig Roberts and his makeup artist wife, Flori Roberts. When Dr. Roberts grew frustrated with skin care’s limited ability to correct and conceal his patients’ concerns, he turned to makeup to solve what skin care could not. The Roberts developed Dermablend to bring the best of dermatology and makeup artistry together.
Dermablend is committed to maintaining dermatologist standards in all its products. Its formulas are fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, allergy-tested and sensitive skin-tested. The Dermablend makeup range offers high-coverage, high-performance pigments that provide a flawless yet natural-looking finish for all skin types and tones and have become a cult-favorite for makeup professionals worldwide.
The Dermablend Range
Dermablend’s body makeup is designed to conceal spider veins and spider veins with just a few swipes.
Quick-Fix Body is a full coverage foundation that is water-resistant, transfer-resistant and smudge-proof for up to 16 hours. Housed in convenient packaging for on-the-go wear or touch-ups, the foundation stick is formulated for sensitive skin and features creamy, high-performance pigments that glide on smoothly for spot coverage or camouflage on larger surface areas.
Dermablend Leg and Body Makeup is a buildable liquid foundation. The lightweight, blendable formula is designed to protect skin with SPF 25 and support skin with all-day hydration. When applied with a setting powder, the foundation provides 16 hours of comfortable wear that is smudge- and transfer-resistant, never cakey or mask-like.
How to Conceal Spider veins
Camouflaging spider veins starts with proper preparation of the skin. The smoother and more hydrated the area, the better Dermablend makeup will look. Moisturize and exfoliate before makeup application for flawless, natural-looking coverage. Dermablend Moisturizer is recommended, as a moisturizer that is too heavy or is applied excessively will interfere with the foundation’s ability to set.
Select your preferred foundation formula in a color that matches the skin of the application area. Apply a small amount with fingertips or a makeup sponge and blend. Always start with the lightest possible application to avoid a cakey, unnatural look. If spider veins can still be seen in some areas, add extra coverage only where needed and continue to blend.
Removing Spider veins Permanently
Dermablend is an effective and convenient solution for concealing spider veins, but it is temporary. For permanent results, medical treatment is required. The Vein Care Center offers several cutting-edge therapies for spider veins, including laser treatment and injection sclerotherapy. These treatments are performed in a few minutes in our office and do not require anesthesia or downtime in most cases. Results may be seen right away and improve in the days following your procedure. In some cases, multiple treatment sessions are recommended to achieve an optimal outcome.
